OPEN Slow-Drying Acrylic Paints

GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics are specially formulated slow-drying acrylic paints, offering a slightly softer consistency than traditional Heavy Body colours. With extended working time, these paints allow artists to explore blending, glazing, and other traditional techniques typically associated with oil painting—without leaving the acrylic medium.

Designed for greater control and flexibility, OPEN Acrylics should be applied in thin layers (under 1mm) for optimal drying. Thicker applications can remain wet for extended periods, while drying time can be adjusted by mixing with faster-drying acrylics such as Fluid or Heavy Body colours. Their unique open time also makes them suitable for select printmaking techniques.

Thanks to their slow-drying properties, OPEN Acrylics stay workable on the palette for longer. When covered or stored in sealed containers, colours can remain usable for weeks—helping to reduce waste and preserve custom colour mixes for future use.
