Schmincke travels back in time to 1912: the Retro line brings back to life the colour sets of historic HORADAM watercolour boxes. The art-historically significant colours form a range that was used to create the most beautiful watercolours in the old days.
The historic special colour "Cochineal Red" is only available in the Retro-Line from Schmincke. The original cochineal red is a transparent, deep shade of red that is obtained from cochineal scale insects and was once an important colour in watercolour painting.
