Yellow Mid Azo has plenty of pigment, add a touch of black or white and you can cover the value scale easily with out loosing the yellows integrity. Fabulous oranges can be made using different shades of red. My favourite is Yellow Mid Azo and Phrrole Red for a wonderful Burnt Orange. I also use it for glazing when I dilute with water and Binder Medium, gives an extra pop especially when glazed over lighter areas. Also great when added to greys for a warmer note. Yellow Mid Azo is a Series 2 and does require more paint for a mix say to a Series 5, but for my type of painting (Abstract) this is a bonus as there are times I want a painterly effect and do not want to add any or to much binder or spreader mediums. It works out economically and I still have professional quality paint, would highly recommend you give it a try.
