Indian sable/mongoose is very satisfying to paint oils and acrylics. These brushes are ideal for portraits,ย including wet and thick applications. They are highly recommended to all oil painters. A little courser than sable and not as expensive they offer greater control and spring (European sizes. i.e. size 12 is equivalent to English size 6).

The filbert has a flat ferrule and rounded hair end. The flat side is used for wider strokes and the edge for more linear purposes. A versatile brush that gives a softer finish than the flats or brights

I love these neef Indian Sable and have been looking all over for them the local art shop no longer gets them in I find them very good for portraits and any smooth work, because they are soft yet not to bendy like some of the cheaper brushes.

I have been painting with oils for a number of years and used many brands and types of brushes. I find the nicest brushes to work with are the Neef Indian Sable Filbert.
