Acrylic retarder mixed with spreader medium are the basis that I use when using glazing and flowing effects in my work. This allows me to use the paint in a watercolour manner. There a a number of home made retarder recipes but most of them dull the colour over time. I have found that the Matisse range of mediums are reliable and cost cost effective.
