Berge Gesso Board panels are a 3mm wooden composite support coated with gesso, suitable for all painting techniques (acrylic, oil, pastel and mixed media). The slight surface texture is perfect for fine applications, allowing for ideal brush control. The Berge Gesso Boards are light and rigid, perfect to be placed on an easel for plein-air painting. Primed with an artist-grade acrylic gesso, they are great for sketches and practice works. Available in a range of sizes, in both square and rectangle formats.

The Berge boards have a surface smooth as glass. There is no 'tooth' for the paint to adhere to. I re-gessoed them but still found them impossible to paint on. Paint slides across the surface and it is impossible to get rid of the streaky brush marks. If we are painting with oil or acrylic we need a surface with a canvas like tooth . Most paint boards do have such a surface. Its the first time I have bought this product and I could not recommend it to other artists. Its a disappointing mistake to have tried it as it is not fit for purpose. Marlene Griffin
