Description

The Høvel pencil plane enables you to perfectly whittle your pencil to any desired point. Its unique mechanism protects the lead of your pencil, unlike the commonly used sharpener which can unknowingly snap the graphite core with its twists. Due to its solid brass body, the weight of the Høvel is a joy to hold, and its materiality gains beauty and character with age. While the Høvel can sharpen almost any pencil, it can also be used with pastels, soft pastels and graphite bars. Its planing technique means that you can sharpen softer pencils without breaking the core. Included replaceable blades ensure precision sharpening at all times. The Høvel is made with solid machined brass and its blades with carefully selected carbon steel. The packaging is made of card, and is 100% recyclable. Designed to last a lifetime, the brass will patina with time and use but a light polish with Brasso, or brass cleaning cloth, will bring back its original shine.

Super little sharpener, great for pastel pencils, easy to use with the wooden base.

I often sharpen my pencils with a blade but been finding recently a lot of pain in my thumb doing this, I was looking for a solution and came upon this sharpener. It doesn't really 'plane' the wood it just kind of digs in to the wood, kind of like the blade isn't strong enough cut through. I looked up some YouTube videos to see how to use it correctly incase I was doing it wrong. I found a number of positive reviews by people who had been given the sharpener for free and a number of reviews by people who paid for it themselves, and their reviews were not as positive and they were having the same uses I was having. If you have an hour to sharpen 1 pencil by only taking of very very small pieces of wood off at a time this might be for you but you likely won't get the as good as a result as if you just used a normal blade or even a long tip pencil sharpener. Also to note the pencil scuffs up the sharpener immediately, so the bottom won't stay nice, so if you expect to pay this much money

Lovely product. The blades are easy to change. It will take a little practice using it but works well.
