Description

Ultramarine Blue plots cooler and bluer than the more saturated French Ultramarine. Temperature aside, both blues have equal permanence, lightfastness and semi-transparency.

Ultramarine Blue is slightly less granular in concentrated washes. For less saturation, sedimentation and cost, use Ultramarine Blue straight, for vibrant crayon-like colour or mixed with a cool red for dark, effective neutrals.

ASTM Lightfastness Rating: Excellent

Transparency: Semi-Transparent

Granulating: Yes

Staining: Medium

I’m really happy with this product that I purchased recently about two weeks ago and it has been very handy with my painting career. It has really volumized my artworks and has a nice magenta blue tone to it going perfectly with the landscapes I have been painting. The mid blue colour it gives on the cold press water colour paper is wonderful. I am super happy with this product and will absolutely be ordering again and recommend to all my family and friends.

I use this colour a lot and Daniel Smith has the best watercolour paints in my opinion.

A tutor was using this instead of French Ultramarine so I decided to try it. It is slightly cooler than French Ultramarine turn there’s not much difference. It blends nicely.
