Daniel Smith Watercolour Ground Transparent 118ml

This does pretty much exactly what you would expect - I've used it on linen and other fabrics and various papers including ordinary cartridge paper - it provides a consistent surface to everything you use it on. You don't really even need to sand it, in fact I prefer it unsanded on fabrics because you retain some of the interesting texture of the fabric. Also, the transparent ground let's you see the fabric underneath, which, if patterned/printed, can be seen as an interesting 'underpainting'.
