I have been using Baohong watercolour paper for a while, at the recommendation of a local tutor, and it is great.

Good quality watercolour paper and for the price is hard to beat

It's harder than Saunders and the medium grain is pretty rough. It's taken a bit to get used to it. It stays wet as long as Saunders so make sure you have a hair drier or you're waiting a long time. Great for dry brush and making sparkles on water. Wet on wet is good and stays wet for ages but wet on dry dries very fast and can leave streaks. Better than fabriano artistico but I would probably go with Saunders

Excellent product. Meets all expectations. The best paper I have used.

As always, this paper is of excellent quality and at a very reasonable price. I always by baohong paper for this reason.

I highly recommend Baohong water colour paper. It is cheaper than other brands, yet the quality is just as good. It retains water for a long time, allowing for wet on wet techniques. It is very sturdy, and tolerates several layers of colour. The rough allows for excellent dry brush techniques as well.

I love this paper. It has a good, strong, rough texture but is very responsive to every touch of the paintbrush.

What can I say.... just love it!
So easy to work with and I love how I can move the pigments around after they've dried.
Does buckle a bit but that's OK, I'm used to it. Hopefully I'll be able to iron them out.
I feel my watercolours have reached another level ????????
Definitely recommend this product for all levels of experience. ?

Usually buy Arches or Waterford decided to try this as recommended by art studio in Qld. Love the paper/ bought 300gsm Baohong rough. Suits my work ,doesn't curl up, just right amount of fluidity and still achieve the lovely transparency.

I found the texture of the paper to be rougher than other medium cold press papers and a bit more obvious to the touch. I feel this would affect the ability to do more detailed work but it was fine for the small landscape I tried out. In all other aspects it performed as well as most of the more expensive cotton papers.

Excellent product I use nothing else now. Only down side is it is made in China

M
Maureen L.

I really like Baohong paper, I have only used 300 rough so far. Performs well especially for painting wet into wet, also I like the crisp finish when used dry. The only criticism I have is that the paper cannot be painted on the reverse side, this to me is a waste of paper if one has a failure. Thank you. Maureen.

I find this paper a good substitute for Arches. It is more textured and needs more water to get it going but the results are good. Not all paintings are framers and this paper allows for more practice pieces. It is obviously machine made and feels thicker. You get used to it.

I love the Master's Choice smooth paper. It is great for crisp detail in bird paintings and botanical work. It is sturdy enough to take lifting but has a soft "feel". Also like the fact it can be purchased in half sheets which makes it easy to store. cheers, Penny Maddison.

I love everything about this paper! Colors stay vibrant and blend easily and it is a heavy stable paper. When painting a heavy wet on wet on a small piece of this paper taped down without prior stretching, the paper puffed up like a marshmellow and as it dried it went right back to the original flat shape with very little change. I have not had time to seriously use this paper on a larger project yet, but am excited to try it.

This paper is great for the price, it handles water well in general well made.

Lovely paper, good for watercolour and charcoal drawing

J

The paper arrived very carefully packaged between light boards wrapped in plastic so there was no risk of damage.
I have been trying the paper for graphite work and watercolour. The paper allows gentle washes of watercolour and gives the artist time to move the pigment around the paper. The paper remains flat and doesn't buckle when damp. I did not stretch the paper because my style of painting uses only tiny amounts of wetted paper at one time. Give the paper time to dry and then repeat for multi layered washes, this worked well. You are able to lift paint off the paper with either a damp brush or paper towel. The lifting does not damage the paper surface. Also removing graphite from the paper is successful using different types of erasers and the paper retains its surface. I haven't tried masking fluid on this. I was pleased to have purchased this product and would do so again.
