The filbert is a versatile brush with a flat ferrule and oval shaped top edge. The flat side is used for wider strokes and the edge for more linear purposes.
NEEF taklon brushes were developed through collaboration between Neef and Robert Wade over 25 years ago. They are our best selling brushes and are suitable for most techniques including watercolour, gouache, inks, acrylics, oils etc. They have very strong filaments which give great snap and colour carrying capacity. They also offer a great point, spring and precise control particularly when brush marks are not required in paint film. They do not carry as much colour as sable / squirrel but are a fraction of the price.

This brush is great to use with watercolour and soft body acrylic. I mainly bought it for mixing watercolours, and then discovered it makes lovely marks. Fantastic, patient and exceptionally helpful service too.
Flexible brush, keeps shape, just what I expected.
I purchased the full set of Neef Takln Filbert Watercolour Brushes as a learner watercolourist I think one needs a sample of all the watercolour brushes on offer so as to develop one's own style. I prefer to create different Australian scenes and I find these brushes aid in depicting gumleaves.
