Speedball Gel Printing Plates are specially formulated for monoprinting with water-based printmaking inks, delivering exceptional detail and crisp image transfer. Their firmer construction and high-tack surface minimise colour movement, allowing for cleaner, more precise prints compared to softer gel plates.
Unlike standard gel plates, these are not designed for use with most acrylic paints or encaustic media, as they can dry onto the surface and become difficult to remove. For acrylic printing, only slow-drying paints such as Golden OPEN Acrylics or acrylics mixed with an open medium or retarder are recommended.
Cleaning is simple with soap and water after use. To keep the plate in excellent condition, store it in its original clamshell packaging with the protective sheets provided, and avoid stacking clean plates directly on top of one another.
Each plate is 6.5mm (¼") thick and is available in 5" × 5", 5" × 7", 8" × 10", and 12" × 12" sizes.
